We would like to be married at the Basilica - What is the first step?
We’’re
glad you asked! Before making ANY plans such as booking a reception hall, choosing a caterer, etc., see Reservations and Rates.
What if my future spouse is not Catholic? This concern will be discussed
with your priest during Pre-Cana.
If the Mass is part of our ceremony, can the
Basilica provide Altar Servers? Yes, however, you must notify us of this need when submitting the
Wedding Policy Acknowlegment. (Some couples prefer to choose their own Altar Servers, however this possibility must be discussed with the priest
who will preside at the wedding.)
Will there be ample parking for
guests? We have space available for guest parking. Handicapped parking
is also available. An approximate number of spaces needed for your guests should be given in the Wedding Policy Acknowledgment. Large weddings may require additional parking in the nearby parking garage behind the Asheville-Buncombe Library
on Haywood Street.
Are there any guidelines for our non-Catholics guests?
Please see the "Etiquette" and "Communion" tabs on the navigation bar for more information.
How many people can be seated
in the Basilica? Maximum capacity is 500.
Does the Basilica have a reception
hall for rent? At
the present time, the Basilica is not equipped with proper facilities to rent for receptions.
Is there a dressing area for the bridal party? A dressing room is reserved as a courtesy to the bride and her bridesmaids.
We strongly encourage the Bridal Party to come dressed when possible.
Where do the groom & his entourage wait?
They may gather in the vestibule of the Basilica.
Are there any restrictions regarding dress? While the Basilica has no specific
policy regarding dress, couples are expected to choose attire that reflects the beauty and sacredness of the occasion.
What do we do in inclement weather? Unfortunately, our walkways are uncovered. Please be prepared in case of rain. We
do not provide umbrellas.
